In this new salon series we will unite the wilderness and ideas, explore the unknown, and embrace the beauty of nature to stimulate meaningful conversations.
Our first salon exploration will take place on the Jurassic Coast where we will explore Kimmeridge Bay and its caves, formally used by pirates, fossil hunt, and take seaside walks during the day. In the afternoon we will discuss ideas on the overarching topic for the weekend "The Future: Beauty and Chaos" in salon conversations. In the evenings we will use our telescope to view Jupiter and the Galilean satellites.
In honor of Mrs. Ansar, the Ansar family has generously donated the beautiful Georgian manor, Smedmore House, for accommodation. With its Mediterranean gardens, seaside views, sphinxes, urns, and obelisks, this jewel of the 18th century promises to be a most inspired location for salon conversation.
Like all our city salons, this event is free, as is the accommodation. However we strongly encourage you to donate to The Public Sphere upon rsvp, to keep our salons alive.
Spaces are limited to 16.
If you have an idea for a salon related to our overarching topic "The Future: Beauty and Chaos" please include this in your rsvp. For those who have knowledge on the salon topic they propose, there is the possibility that they may act as speaker and offer extended comments if they so wish.
