In times of the refugee crisis, the collapse of late-capitalist lifestyle and the recurrence of aggressive nationalism on the old continent, we think it is time to question our conceptions. What are the cultural concepts that the idea of Europe includes? And which are excluded? Which antagonisms are constructed – Christianity vs. Islam; Democracy vs. Despoty; West vs. East; America vs. Europe? Is the idea of Europe reactionary? How is it developed? What did Europe mean to the ancient Romans and Greeks? Can there be an emancipatory concept of it?
